The school calendar had to be adjusted in light of all the events surrounding COVID-19 and the closure of schools. Because of all the hard work that our students, parents and teachers have put in via the online classes, we are able to keep the academic year on track.
In addition to the 6 weeks that our students have been working from home, we will have another 6 weeks in Term 2, 2 weeks longer than a normal school term. This will enable us to do revision with the students and conduct all the necessary assessments. We were able to keep Term 3 at 9 weeks and Term 4 at 10 weeks by reducing the school holidays to only 1 week between each term. Roxer students will thus have 41 weeks total learning time in 2020 as opposed to the 38 weeks proposed by the Department of Education's revised calendar.
The new school term calendar for 2020 is as follows:
- Term 2 will end on the 15th of July 2020 (6 weeks after returning to school, 12 weeks total learning time)
- Term 3 - 28 July 2020 to 25 September 2020 (9 weeks)
- Term 4 - 6 October 2020 to 9 December 2020 (10 weeks)
